It would certainly cause mood swings which could be looked as personality change due to your actions and reactions on others. However if you feel it is extreme you may want to consult your doctor and he may be able to give you a mild medication to make the transition more comfortable for you.
In the mean time. Try to relax and make certain that you make people around you aware that this is not your intention.

Yes this can happen due to hormonal imbalances etc some women can be severally effected during menopause and their whole personality can change including sex drive and nervous problems

It could mean personality changes at any age. I'm battling it now because of a total hysterectomy. I stopped taking the hormones a couple months ago and bought over the counter stuff and I am a mess.
