I never made it to work Wednesday; the area where I work was the heart of the NYC subway flood mess! Got stranded in midtown Manhattan for hours, got a nice sunburn for my trouble!

What was your worst experience?

Haha! well, firstly, i'd like to give sympathy for your awful experience. =] that must have been terrible. =]
So anywhos, yes i have been "stranded" due to bad weather. It was just last month after tennis lessons. As I left for the courts, i could tell that is was about to rain. VERY hard. I had to leave early since my coach warned me that it will be pouring soon. Darn right he was. Just as I was walking the 1/2 mile home, it began to rain LIKE MAD. In fact, the rain actually felt as though needles were hitting me. OUCH. >.> So when i got home, I looked as though i had just cameout of a cold bath with my cloths still on. worse of all, i was wearing a white shirt and silver b-ball shorts. (quite a few cars slowed to give me strange looks.....)

Well, just last night my electricity went out at 7:30pm. I live alone and I'm in a wheelchair. I live in South Carolina and it was 105 yesterday. I called my electric company and reported the outage. At 11:00 pm it was 89 degrees in my home and very dark except for my candles. At midnight it was 91 degrees and I had a washrag to wipe the sweat off of my face, very uncomfortable. The electricity came on at 12:45 am. Let me tell you, it was wonderful to go to bed with the air conditioning blowing its cold air!!

I was in Malawi Africa about 5 years ago. I walked about 2km to town in the morning when it was sunny. By the afternoon it was pouring rain and the mini bus that I got a ride on broke down so I had to walk the last k back. I was absolutely saturated from head to toe when i got home. There were other occasions that year when similar things happen. Africa is like that and you just accept it as part of the challenge.

A river runs within walking distance of my backyard in 1998 it flooded terribly. they closed the only bridge to town and we were stranded there. after 2 days we decided we had to get out of there so we drove about 60 miles in the oppisite direction. luckly no water got into the house

Wweeelllllll....
How about being stuck up north 'in the bush'? I live in Canada and got stuck "way out in the sticks" during a snow storm; a whole bunch of us( -and with no 'smokes'!) No way in and no way out!! Too much snow!!!
And then there was the time my friend and I were 'hitch-hiking' from Toronto to Niagara Falls -normally 11/2 hour drive, but took us 10 hours! (Not due to weather....)
And THEN -another time we were 'hitch-hiking'; this time from Huntsville to Ottawa. This is normally about a 6 hour drive, but not even close for us -we're talking about 48hours! In the middle of December! In the middle of Algonquin Park!!! In the middle of a "freezing rain" storm!!! Bbbrrrrrrr!!!!! Ssscaarrrrryyyyy!!!!! (Algonquin Park is a 'Nature Reserve'! And let me tell you Canada has a LOT of "Nature"...)
AND THEN -'hitch-hiking' AGAIN, this time we were going 'cross-country'; what would normally be a 3 day drive took us 10 days!!! 3 of those days saw us stuck in a town called "Wa-Wa"!!! 3 DAYS! On the same 'side of the road'!!!!! And this during the 'worst' time of year for bugs! During a year that "broke records" for it's "number of mosquitos"! At least this time we only got "sun-burned" and "eaten alive", as opposed to the "frost-bite" we got before...!!!(And again, NOT "weather" related; but "nature related" is kinda close(?).

Oh yeah, and there was this time in 1977, the "White Death".........blizzard.........bad........!!!

I had the same problme as you did on Weds. It took me three hours to get to work when it should have only taken me 45 minutes. It was a mess. I finally got to work after flagging down a taxi in Times Square.
