I wouldn't know for sure, because everything's up to the whims of the selection committee, but probably not because like you said the committee doesn't like to put in kickers and they'll probably put in Adam Vinatieri and/or Morten Andersen and then be like "OK, that's our kicker quota for this generation".

Interesting tidbit: Jan Stenerud, who someone else noted is the only "pure" kicker in the HoF, had a career FG% of 67% (373/558 for both NFL and AFL). I guess back then that was good but by today's standards that sucks. I mean that's just terrible. If you kick below 75%, let alone 67% today, you'd get canned.

A few years ago Jason Elam kicked a 63 yard field goal, so did Tom Dempsey in 1970 and he made it into the hall of fame, so Elam will to.

I don't think having the record for the longest kick will help him, because Tom Dempsey (the other guy with a 63 yarder) isn't in the hall. He may get in for other reasons though. I'm pretty sure that Jan Stenerud is the only kicker - at least the only guy that only played kicker (George Blanda and Lou Groza were kickers but played other positions also) - in the HOF and he had a much lower FG% than Elam has.

You followed up your question well. There is currently only 1 kicker in the Hall of Fame(Jan Stenerud).

With some big name kickers retiring recenty(Morten Andersen, Gary Anderson) and with the current Adam Vinatieri who should all be Hall of Famers ahead of Elam, he will be overlooked.

Jason Elam he has a shot. He missed alot of tries which will hurt him but has scored more points for one team than anybody else. Maybe

He has a chance. He has had a long career, shares the longest FG record, has a very good career make percentage. I wouldn't say he'll make it on a first ballot but maybe on the second or third try.
