♥ Nitrofurantoin is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it not likely to harm an unborn baby. However, nitrofurantoin should not be taken by pregnant women who are at term (38-42 weeks gestation), during labor and delivery, or when the onset of labor is imminent. Do not take nitrofurantoin without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant.
• Nitrofurantoin passes into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast feeding a baby.
• Nitrofurantoin should not be used by infants younger than 1 month of age. They cannot properly eliminate the drug from their bodies, and dangerous side effects could result.

Anyone who says you should not take any medication during pregnancy, even if doc says its ok, is loco. Have you ever had a urinary tract infection? not something you can just wait out. It hurts, it is uncomfortable and, uhh...i don't know....its an infection. If your doctor prescribed it and KNOWS that you are pregnant (assuming it is the same doctor), then you should be fine.

Yes, UTI's are very common in pregnancy, and ther are certain antibiotic that yyou can take. I had that perscribed to me with my 1st pregnancy. If your doc perscribed it, its fine. He wouldnt perscribe anything that would harm your baby. My son came out happy and healthy, so dont worry. its safe.

If a doctor prescribed it I am sure it is okay. If you still have doubts call the doctor again and leave a message.

Yes, it's fine. If your doctor prescribed it, it's fine. I had a UTI early in this pregnancy and was prescribed the same thing. It'll be ok.
