You first have to consider some differences in the gasoline quality between the US and Europe. Most countries in Europe have 95 octane as "regular" gasoline and 98 octane (or even higher) as "premium". Here in the US, we mostly have three grades - 87 octane for "regular", 89 octane for "mid-grade" and 93 octane for our "premium". Keep this in mind when comparing prices - the US "premium" petrol is still a lower octane rating than Europe's "regular" gas.
That being said... as of today the price of gasoline in the Chicagoland area is:
0.79 cents per litre ($2.99/gallon) for 87 octane
0.82 cents per litre ($3.09/gallon) for 89 octane
0.85 cents per litre ($3.19/gallon) for 93 octane.
Chicago is actually one of the most expensive gasoline markets in the US, the national average will be less then the prices that I listed.
By the way... the US cost of diesel right now is about the same as 87 octane gasoline.
Hope this helps...

Safe to put in but your car is not set up to use the 98/99RON. Really just burning your money for nothing. It's an 8v 1.2 fiat punto - not 'performance' by any stretch - just a good run-about type. A 'performance' engine can use 95-100RON as the engine management can adapt to make use of the extra power.

Here in North Carolina, USA, my closest petrol/gas station sells regular unleaded for $2.61 a gallon; diesel which is usually cheaper in Europe is higher here compared to petrol. A gallon of ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel) is currently $2.85 a gallon.

Based on today's price range in our area - $2.59 to $2.79 per gallon, a litre would be around $ .75 -.85., I guess.

U.S. liquid gallon is legally defined as 231 cubic inches, and is equal to 3.785411784 litres (exactly) or about 0.13368 cubic feet.
So please choose the state you want...
By the way here is exactly 0.000452 US $ per litre or 0.00171308 per galon

In the USA we buy gasoline by the gallon. It's about $ 3.85 per gallon so if you want to do the math, and then convert to your monetary system, please feel free to do so. (I'd do it, but all that math is giving me a headache!)
Good luck!
