duh.., if you're in your house 24/7 won't you still have a lock on your door ????????........

Naturally, doors come with locks. Stores which are open 24 hours still need locks for emergency purposes like when there's some chaos outside...or they caught a lifter and want to make sure he can't escape till authorities come...or when there's a national need for shops and stores to close.

If some Staores are open 24/7, you are asking why their Doors have Locks for? I would say for in case they need to close them for an emergency, of some kind, like when a Child is lost and they cannot find him/her, so as not to let a predator, get him out of the store.

well i'm sure it's just as a precaution. but to give you a specific reason..... I used to work at Best Buy. It's obviously not a 24/7 store, but if a child ever got lost in the store, we would lock all the doors until they were found. i'm sure that normal 24/7 stores do that too

Think of it this way. Let's say the 24/7 business goes out of business, a new business will probably take over in which their business hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. They will need the locks to lock up after hours. In other words, when the building was first built, it was probably unknown what type of business was going to use it.

Good question. From running a retail chain I can tell you it's a matter of insurance policies. Belts and braces. For that matter , why do we need shops open 24/7. Even without refrigerators we got along quite well years ago with normal trading hours that allowed everybody to have a life. Now, of course, there's probably too many people for that - or anything else.

If it is a convince store with only 1 cashier working they lock the door to go use the bathroom. Also, if they get robbed they have to lock the doors afterwords so that no one tampers with evidence.

Well, I work for a hardware company who has sold doors for nearly 100 years and outfitted the plainsmen as they ventured out west. We primarily sell industrial grade wooden and hollow metal doors to company and the lock is standard hardware that comes with the door. In fact, I believe it is required by building regulations.

. . . .Never really thought this bit of info would come in handy.
