no infants should not be given any herbal tea. Infants should be under a Dr's. care and slowly given solid foods to determine whether there are any allergic reactions etc. so definitely not! Their systems are not fully developed yet!

Chamomile is fine to give an infant. However, I would obtain liquid chamomile at a health food store so that you can tell how much you are giving the child. "Immune Support" makes a liquid chamomile with an eye-dropper in the bottle. This line of remedies is labeled "Herbs for Kids". Don't overdo this though. Use it sparingly. The child will become dependant if you give it to her every night to sleep.

I love chamomile tea. I used to drink it every night.

But I wouldn't give it to an infant. I was told by a doctor that there is a small amount of something in it that is used for antidepressants and it can actually become addicting. Check with you doctor first.

Chamomile tea is widely used for infantile colic, and reportedly has low toxicity.

However, those of us in allopathic medicine are wary because it is difficult to control the dosage as there is no set standard for the strength of preparation which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and from brew to brew. Some products contain more than just chamomile. I was never enthusiastic about its use.

Yes, chamomile can calm a colicky infant and relieve digestive distress...
BUT
Make it very very very very weak. Dilute, dilute, dilute!
