Tell them that you will be raising your price because of the extra care you must give the dogs in this heat, You now carry extra water and rest the dog periodically. This extra care requires you raise the price to reflect this extra level of safety given their dog while in your care. If they don't agree, new customers will be charged the new rate. Good Luck.

Well doubling you fee is a bit rash. I would say the best thing to do would be to tell them you are raising your fee to $8 for new customers b/c of the heat but that b/c they are good customers you'll give them a break and only charge them $6. People are more likely to not be mad if they think you are doing them a favor and if they are good customers you don't want to loose them.

Well first who set the rate? Minimum wage is much more per hour than that so I assume you are a minor and just doing this to make extra money, like baby sitting. You should go to the current customers and tell them that your rates have increased to - whatever you feel is fair. They have the right to pay or quit doing business with you.

Considering that minimum wage in America is $5.75 p/hr. right now, I cannot see how you expect to make any money doing what you are without getting at least minimum wage? In the heat it is downright against the law. You are doing these people a valuable service and getting paid nothing. Even illegal aliens make more money than you do.

just be honest, tell them you need more money. I'm sure they will pay 8 bucks to have they're dogs taken care of.
good luck.
