I have heard that the president will send out a letter (probably a generic form letter) to any U.S. citizens turning 100 years old. My great grandmother is turning 100 in a few weeks. Does anybody know any more specifics on this? Could you point me in the right direction?

Please leave all political views outside. I don't care for the president, but this is for my grandmother, not for me.

Indeed, the White House does have an office that handles congratulatory correspondence. The site below has contact information.

I suggest that you call them and ask to whom you should direct your request and what information needs to be included. [Name, date, address, etc.]

Note: I answered your question, even though you don't like President Bush.

BTW: Please transmit my felicitations to your second foremother on the centennial anniversary of her natal day. SPLATT.

Yes. My pastor turned 100 September 28 born 1912. All the Presidents send her something anyway.
