I purchased secured redeemable non-convertible debenture from the 'great' Mafatlal Industries. I guess the company went down the drain. I followed through for a while and then I stopped. How do I claim for the amount? Which agency I should appeal to? Can any experts help me please. Thanks

If they went out of business or bankrupt, all you can do in the US is to write this off as an investment loss ... to offset any capital gains.

You'll need your broker to send you a statement that the securities are worthless. Then it becomes a capital loss on your taxes.

or you could sell the to a friend for $1. and do the same.

If they're not on the stock market, you'd have to contact the company itself. Most companies have an investor relations division. Just call them up and ask for investor relations.
