obviously, there's no clear-cut consensus, because i understand that not all conservatives are alike, but in as general terms as possible, what value does art (in all of its forms) have to society as far as conservative philosophy is concerned? should there be government funding to support art? if so, should there be restrictions as far as who gets it? should art be censored? should there be an emphasis on art in the educational system? etc.

I am a fiscal conservative and I LOVE art!

But the government shouldn't fund it (except when they commision a piece for a park or something like that.

People should feel free to produce what ever are they would like, without censorship. But that doesn't mean they can present anything they've made in any venue. Certain things would not be appropriate for the general public (were children might be.)

Art should be taught in the schools, but I;'m not certain how much emphasis should be given to art in the classroom.

I love art. I am looking for a place right now to do some sculpture & pottery. Right now my creative streak comes out in my gardening & cooking.

Pop Arf - "People protesting outside theatres" is an example of people using their freedom of speech. People have a right to hate your paintings.

Please give me specific examples of the government suppressing freedom of speech.

Censorship is for dictators:
I have a 9/11 Truth painting that I'm currently working on, and I'll be damned if anyone gives me hate for expressing my thoughts on canvas.
The truth is out there, all people have to do is look and they will find it.

Concerning question:
Things are heating up in America. People are protesting outside of the movie theaters, concerts, and book and record stores of this great nation everywhere. What is all the fuss about? Censorship, Government officials and raving mad protesters alike have been trying to stop the expressive creativity in everything from Marilyn Manson to Mark Twain. One of the biggest shake-ups happened in museums all over the world recently that would have made Michelangelo and DiVinchi’s hair stand on end. In the Constitution of the United States, the First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech, religion, press, the right to assemble and to petition the government; the Ninth Amendment says, "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people". So it seems one cannot use any of the other rights to quell the rights of an individual or group. Then why is the government trying to censor literature, movies, music and art? All of the world’s modern society has become desensitized and easily trainable. Therefore society has come to accept the ideals, morals, and values driven into the psyche by the dominant forces in the nation: the Government and the Church. By quieting the objective voice these two institutions stand in the lead and stay in control.

Im a prep, yet we've lots in individual-friendly. ^_^ i understand the Jonas Brothers, consumer-friendly Plan, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and the situation-loose White T's. i like pink? i understand section BANGS. haha i'm in love with Pete. <333 I keep at H&M, yet in addition like, AE, Aero, and heat concern depend. I wont flow away the abode devoid of my eyeliner. i glance so... distinctive. Eyeliner rocks. Im form of... all around. aha. :)
