Why do conservatives...?

Why do conservatives think that if you do not think like them that you are liberal, when in America there are many independent and libertarian thinkers?
Or, do conservatives not think but mindlessly agree with whatever their leaders tell them?

I'm more of a libertarian than anything else & I have been called a "neocon" here quite often because of my fiscally conservative stance.

And why do you act like all conservatives do this? Don't you realize several conservatives understand there are many independent and libertarian thinkers?

Or do you assume that just because one a few conservatives have made such assumptions with you then all conservatives must feel the same?
