I`ve been to Iceland and can tell you that it is beautiful during the summer, but mostly dark and cold during the winter. The landscape is spectacular, you cannot compare it to any other in Europe.
All the people I met were extremly nice, during my 16 days stay I did not meet ANY rude person. Most speak very good English and are helpful.
The only negative thing are the high prices for almost everything from food/drink to accomodation, gas and tickets.

I was in Iceland a few years ago and had a great time. It never got dark when I was there. I can recomend a visit to the Blue Lagoon, and the revolving pearl restaurant. Its worth a visit but only for say a long weekend

I have had several layovers in Iceland, and have not been very impressed with what I can see. The airports are very dirty and smokey, the people are rude, the food is weird, and the countryside is barren and grey every time I saw it (though I only saw it in the winter months).
