I'm not looking for upscale or fast food I know the Atlanta Fish Market & McCormick & Schmick's, Red Lobster & Captain D's. I'm looking for the cozy hole in the wall places like in Charleston and Florida. I liked the Steamhouse Lounge but that's gone now.

Atlanta is not known for hole in the wall seafood places. Most are expensive and upscale. You'll be hard pressed to find good old Southern deep fried catfish or seafood platter and hushpuppies.

The Red Snapper on Cheshire Bridge road is probably the closest. Homey cheap hole in the wall joint with good southern seafood.

AJ's on Roswell Rd is good, but it's mostly po-boys. But a good loaded shrimp poboy with hushpuppies.

C&S on Cobb, though still expect to spend $30 min, but GOOD oyster bar. (semi upscale but not white table cloth dining)

Nicky's is the fresh market on Whitehall if you just want some fresh boiled shrimp or crabs to take to the park or back to your room and eat.

Goldfish on Ashfor Dunwoody - but it's Asian seafood not southern fried. They do have other cooked fish dishes beside sushi, but I don't think this is what you were looking for.

Heard about a place called Blue Bay Market which is also supposed to be very good and very cheap. It's new. Think it's in an old sports bar on Main. They make the hushpuppies cigar shaped.

Totsy's is in Kennesaw (15 miles or so) and has some good fish dishes like whiting, flounder, tilapia, grouper, shrimp, and scallops.

That's about all i know besides the typical "chain" places or upscale steak and seafood places.

Best Seafood In Atlanta

I don't know of one in Atlanta, but if you are ever visiting Virginia Beach, VA, go down Virginia Beach Blvd towards the beach front and when you get near the downtown area, on the left side of the road you will see what looks like a beached ship. It isn't, it is Captain George's Seafood All You Can Eat Buffet, and it is simply the best I've ever eaten at. They have this She Crab Soup that is out of this world in flavor. You will be greeted by people in tux's and your waiters and waitresses also will be wearing them, but you can go there in jeans. They don't care. It's a very friendly, not too loud, atmosphere. The ceilings have the world's largest stained glass chandliers which are simply beautiful to look at. There is so much food there you won't ever eat it all, that is for sure.

I visit Atlanta often (its like my second home), but the only seafood place that I have actually eaten at was Joe's Crab Shack on Cobbs. Now there is a place called Pappadeaux, that everyone in the ATL seems to recommend. they say it's really good! my friends and I tried to go one evening but it was so busy that we needed reservations. So that must mean it's pretty good huh! We made reservations for the next day because it smelled so good, but ended up not going because we went out instead. But anyway it's on Windy Hill. Try the Marietta Diner. It's not a hole in the wall but it's not upscale either. They have a large variety of seafood dishes, along with everything else. It's a Greek restaurant. The food is very good and priced well.

It's located on Hwy 41 (Cobb Parkway) near the intersection of South Marietta Parkway. It's open 24 hours.

Just be warned they give you a LOT of food...I have never been able to finish a meal there. The seafood bisque they serve is to die for.

Just wait until you see the desert case...OMG.
