We had a lot of storms yesterday causing the power to go out a few times.. this morning I drained the hot tub, and before that I shut off the hot tub from the fuse box, the only place I can. Next, i filled it back up, but when I went to hit the fuse to turn it back on (I guess its a circut breaker? Kinda like a lightswitch, but sideways) It clicked to on, then it clicked back into the middle. I tried again to turn it off, then on, and it went back into the middle. Now, what would cause this and how do I get my hot tub working? What can I do?!

most likely there is moisture in the control box that turns the motor and heating elements on/off...leave the breaker off make sure there is no power and let every thing dry out ....you could even take the cover off the panel where the contactors and switches are so they would dry out faster...once it drys out...try to reset the breaker if it still knocks call an electrician..it is very safe to take off the covers as long as the power is off.. .

as long as the power is off and your sure there is no power then I would check all my electrical connections.Take the covers off of everything that conceals any other electrical parts and make sure they are all dry. Then I would check to see if the pump motor had got water inside the windings. It is very safe to remove any covers as long as you are sure the power is off just as the other people on here has said. I would only call an electrician after I had allowed everything to dry out and couldnt find on my own what caused the breaker to trip.

The circuit sounds as though it has a short in it possibly at the spa pump, you will have to test the electric lines going to the spa with a circuit meter or test gauge. With the breaker off disconnect the wires at the pump and check the bare ends with the meter, if you get a reading then your short is in the line coming from the box to the pump, if you get no reading then you may have a bad breaker, (and you'll have to get an electrician to replace it for you), then check the spa pump to see if that is your problem. Either way the best person to have do this is an electrician...

You have a short somewhere between the hot tub and the breaker. If you are not properly trained to work on electrical equipment you should contact a qualified electrician to look in to the problem. You can easily get killed if you don't know what you are doing.

Your question makes no sense. The range is the stovetop. Do you mean the oven vs the stovetop? Or the controls vs the rest of the unit. The controls are usually plugged into a standard 110v 15 AMP outlet. The range itself is plugged into a special 220v 50 AMP outlet or hardwired to a 220v 50 AMP line. If the current stove is tripping this larger breaker, its failing inside and is a fire hazzard. When they come to replace your stove, the installer should be able to hardwire the range to the cable coming from the wall.

stat is right and bbq is just being unfriendly...stat fixed my hot tub everytime i have had a problem with it...I also agree with arts_58 he is one of the best electricians or air conditioning repairman in our area...I do know for a fact when any electrician needs to go to someone for help he is the man they call...My father is an maintenance man for the county schools and he says this stat dude is the best electrician he has ever known....I would try everything stat said to try before i called an electrician to come to house if he told me to do those things first....no sense in calling an electrician to come to your home if you can turn the power off and fix it yourself with some quality information from someone like wwwstat

as long as there is no power as wwwstat says i dont see why you cant take the cover off to see if it is wet inside..seems like this bbq guy just likes to make you think a good electrician is giving you bad advice...i would take the cover off and make it sure it is not wet inside the box plus i would check all the other places where there is any electrical connections...but as stat said make sure the power is off

if its because its wet then it wasnt properly installed in the first place. DO NOT Listen to the so called electrician saying to take the cover off. This is VERY Dangerous. IF you feel so inclined to wait a few days before calling a professional - please do so but aside of that - DO make the call.

If you had a storm your wiring could be wet. Give it a couple of days to dry then try it again. If your breaker still trips you have a bad motor, your still wet or you have a short.

it is certain that you have a short circuit some where in the line.this means that the electricity is flowing to ground some where and is not able to make a complete circuit. i suggest as others have that you call some one who knows about this stuff. it is far too easy to get electrocuted. it may be something simple but be safe not sorry.
