You should contact your local law enforcement agency. Sometimes they consider this stalking. If you know this person and have contact with them you could also get a restraining order. If this is an ex-boyfriend, ex-mate, you are really in danger and need to contact police. You should press charges for your own safety and that of your family.

If this is just a perv from the web, you should also tell your local law enforcement. They could track the person down just in case they are dangerous.

Yes, in many states there are laws against "harassment by telecommunications."

Pennsylvania's statute, 18 Consolidated Pennsylvania Statutes, §2709 (a), subsections (4) through (7), reads, inter alia, " A person commits the crime of harassment when, with intent to harass, annoy or alarm another, the person:
(4) communicates to or about such other person any lewd, lascivious, threatening or obscene words, language, drawings or caricatures;
(5) communicates repeatedly in an anonymous manner;
(6) communicates repeatedly at extremely convenient hours; or
(7) communicates repeatedly in a manner other than specified in paragraphs (4), (5) and (6).

Your own state may have a similar statute.

lexi - have you called your cell phone provider to see if the number can be blocked?

Sure, you can press harassment charges, doesn't mean it will stop though. People violate TRO's all the time.

You better bet is to find a way to block the person's number, or change your number.
