What copyright ? If you wrote it ---our Congress says it is
yours ! If it would make you feel better , ask someone
like a teacher or anyone in authority to read it ! And
ask them to hold on to a dated "Treatment" (Summary)
for you. Don't send it to yourself thru the mail---that
prooves nothing.

If it is really unique send a "treatment" or a sample page
to a publisher whose name is in "Writer's Digest" magazine
preceded by a "Query " letter if they will accept one.

Publishers and Producers don't steal scripts and they
usually don't accept scripts that are copyrighted or
that you are sending to other publishers.

When I write something I "try it out on the Dog"---
that means I read portions of it to anyone that
will listen----and not fall asleep , yawn , or leave
the room---most writers do this (ask their wives)
That incidentally is as good as a copyright ---
unless your wife is an unscrupulous writer also !

The United States Copyright Office copyright.gov
states one's work is automatically copyrighted from the minute it is written. (they should know!)

You don't have to mail it to yourself (as in the old days)
however, if it makes you feel more secure, mail it to yourself. The record is only for your information.

You can pay to copyright, but, that's silly, don't spend money you don't have to spend.

Go to copyright.gov for more information.

You can pay an attorney to have the copyrights filed or you can do it yourself by looking up "free copyright sites".
