I have thought about moving to vegas for quite some time and have a strong background in Law Enforcement and Security. How much do the larger casinos pay on the Strip and do they have special units within the casino such as Protection Teams and do most of these promote from within. Will it help if I have a local Address or is it possible to get a position and then relocate.

Security officers seem to average roughly $12 per hour, but the range is about $10-$17 per hour. Some armed guards are on the higher end, some unarmed guards on the lower end. But even then it can still be variable. It also depends on the hotel/casino, some will pay more than others.

Although its not a requirement, most casinos seem to promote from within. For example, at a Harrah's owned casino, promotion to security sergeant or security officer level III position requires previous experience at a Harrah's casino. Education always helps with promotions also.

once I heard Billy Graham say there have been greater church homes in Las Vegas than Casinos....Its in basic terms that greater human beings pass to the Casinos then the church homes... although, Las Vegas could be a outstanding place to stay. Who is accustomed to, you may get employed to be a Chip Monk!!
