A significant number of men were actually convicted of rape on the testimony of the victims. Later they were exonerated with DNA evidence. If a death penalty were in place, these men might be dead. The death penalty does not make sense.
Here are a few of the people wrongfully convicted of rape, where the victim misidentified them, and exonerated with DNA, from the top of the alphabet: (source below)
Habib Wahir Abdal (Buffalo, NY)
Marvin Anderson (Virginia)
Herman Atkins (California)
Chester Bauer (Montana)
Gene Bibbins (Louisiana)
Donte Booker (Ohio)
Marc Bravo (California)
Johnny Briscoe (Missouri)
Dale Brison (Pennsylvania)
Dennis Brown (Louisiana)
Harold Buntin (Indiana)
AB Butler (Texas)
Kevin Byrd (Texas)
And the list goes on.

Yes rapists and child molesters commit a unique type of crime which always produces both DNA evidence and at least one eye witness. Couple this fact with the fact that rapists and child molesters always repeat there crimes and you have a case where society has duty to put these animals down. As it has been stated the evidence in a rape case is overwhelming it is the one type of crime in which we will always know the defendant is guilty. That means we do not have to deal with the ethical questions of executing an innocent person. The recidivism of rapists is too high for a society not to protect society from them.

No. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled years ago that the death penalty would be cruel and unusual punishment for a rape case. Practically speaking, the ultimate penalty should be reserved for the worst crimes. So in the case of a rapist, if he then murdered his victim, he would certainly be a candidate. Perhaps his knowing that if he kills his victim he could receive the death penalty may deter him. However, if he already can receive this penalty after the rape, then he has no incentive to spare her life.

Morally no, no one should die but financially the government can't handle the costs. Personally being a former victim Im a little biased in what I would like to do to those who commit these acts but I also know that our society considers those who might be wrongfully charged in the punishment.
And honestly I know someone who was wrongfully charged so I am in a conundrum of my answer.
Personally those truely guilty should have hormone suppressents and be "neutered" to ensure they can't impregnant any one else they might attempt to force themselves on.
But you never know when someone who is honestly innocent leaks through our judicial system so it kind of sucks for them with that punishment.. but for both guilty and innocent.. thats a far better option than death.

The death penalty isn't about sense. It's not about right or wrong. It's about doing what needs to be done--disposing of the trash of society. Sometimes you have to do the "wrong" thing to do the right thing. If I had my way, rapists would be tortured and humiliated, then be killed. Sure it's wrong to kill another human--but I would hardly call these sadistic, twisted motherf*ckers human. I for one would take it less personally being murdered than being raped.

Violent rapists, such as someone who serially attacks and assaults girls on their way to school, have fully earned the death penalty.
They should be hanged until dead.

No. No government is capable of administering the death penalty fairly. Until that problem can be solved, it should not be an option on the table.

No. Rapists, as vile as they are, are not charged with a capital crime of taking someone's life.
