Hi i am 16 and have just opened my first bank account, the problem is i am disabled and the other day i went to get some money out at the hole in the wall cashline machine and i had my nanna with me and i gave her my card to put in for me and i told her to turn away while i put my number in but today she told me that she seen what numbers i put in and she knows my pin number. I wouldnt normally use the machine but it was really busy inside so i used it for quickness. I want to change my pin number but i dont know how i can get to the bank to do it without my mum or nanna knowing, if my mum finds out that she knows my pin number she will go mad. How can i go to the bank to change it without them knowing what i am doing, or should i just tell my mum i need to change it because i think somebody seen me putting it in, please help me i dont know what to do! I AM NEVER USING A MACHINE AGAIN LOL!

I think if you have any doubts over the security of your PIN, no matter how small, you should definitely get it changed. I know you are wary of using machines, but the quickest way to do it is at the ATM. If you choose the 'PIN services' option (all machines have it) you can change your PIN by simply entering your old PIN again and then entering a new PIN twice. I don't know if it will be easy for you to get to the machine alone but it's the most private way If you ask the bank to change it they will post a slip out to you and you risk your mum wanting to know what is in the envelope.

you can do it on the telephone with the bank..ask them & they will put you through to an automated section where you choose your new pin using your telephone keypad..nobody at the bank will know what it is.
it will take a few days to come into affect though..so do it when you know you wont need to use your card. however..if you cant trust your grandma..who can you trust?!! i am sure she wouldnt take your money!!

If you have to ask if you should change your PIN, then you should change your PIN. It is an easy process and it keeps you safe. If your mother gets upset because you did it, then the problem is with her and not with you.

Yes, you should change your PIN. ALL the details are irrelevant. You should change your PIN on a regular basis in any case.

Next time you go into the bank write a note to the teller and ask them to do it. Or just tell her someone saw you enter your numbers.
