I do not have a ton of friends, about 10 true-blues, they would die for me and vise-versa.

i feel like men are more loyal to their friends than women. woman, for the most part, are caddy, backstabbing liars. but that is what i have experienced. and i can say that because i am a woman. i think that besides my family, i have about 3 true friends, its sad how fake and selfish people have become over the generations. i was raised with old school morals. you say you are going to do something, you do it. you keep your word and promises. you help people when they are in need. be the ear to listen and the shoulder to cry on. you dont lie, backstab or judge others. and no matter how many of my friends wouldnt go as far as die for me, i would still do it for them, heck, i would do it for a complete stranger. i wish moral wouldnt have been flushed down the toilet with my generation. sorry.....looks like you found a subject that i could go on and on about....lol

I'm not sure that gender is a factor either, really I think it's more of the personality that might affect anything. Since you have 10 really good friends, that's a good thing. A guy can be as loyal as a woman, or not, same for the woman. It's how much they like you and vice versa I think that determines the loyalty of a friend.

I would qualify my answer by stating that some of the women I know wouldn't think twice about stabbing there so called friends in the back while the men I know have stayed loyal to there friends with nary a squabble.

You must be young, coz you'll realize NO BODY has 10 'friends' that would honestly die for them. there's just not enough time in your day to commit to that many people.
Number two, if some of them are dudes, it's in my experience that no guy who your 'best friends' with is actually friends with you for the same reasons you with him. More often than not he's got a crush on you. Maybe he'll never tell you, but it's true. They all tell me that about eachother.
They are very loyal (when their good men to begin with) but their motives are scewed. If i'd only known that earlier on, I may have tried harder with my girlfriends whome I found to be untrustworthy instead.

i'd say men are more loyal.

in my life at least, which has had its fair share of ups and downs, i've had many more women who i thought i was close to cut and run then men.

without getting into the entire story of my youth on Y!A, i've been through some hard times, and i've seen much more loyalty from my male friends.

now that i think about it, maybe its just a same-sex thing. maybe your most loyal friends are just typically (but not always) those of the same sex..

Yes, at least I am to my men and women friends, true friends expect more from you in all you do. So being a true friend is different from being just a friend.

Man, you are fooled big time if you think that ANY human would die for you.....and if the moment really presented itself, you would chicken out yourself......really think about it--if you were out with one of your "true-blues", and someone put a gun to their head and said "give me some money or you're a gonner" and she (or he) said "I'm a broke mutha", and you yourself had like only three pennies in your pocket, are you really gonna say "put the lead in MY cerebrum"? I don't think so.....all you're gonna do is trip and then "fight or flight" is gonna kick in and it's only NATURAL for your apprehensive brain to think "better you than me" and vanish like the the wind.....and gender has nothing to do with loyalty in friendships whatsoever; not the least bit.....it's character, and nothing else.....your question is nothing more than a button pusher for me--ask something that activitates contemplation instead of provocation and then I'll give you a star.......so, are all your true-blues female.....straight up sentiments, and blessings to you.....
