Im planning on becoming a betta breeder. I love bettas and right now i have a crowntail pair set up for breeding but just wanted to know where else i could find some nice betta pairs. I am also looking for a site that sells betta jars that are at least a 1/2 gallon to a gallon. I already went to bettatalk.com and aquabid.com. please leave any info or links that u might have pleeeeese!

The vast majority of the hardware is common materials from any local pet shop or chain pet supply store. There are a few items you will need that are not available from those sources however.

First is truely excellent quality breeding stock. You can buy beautiful bettas from many sites on the web, but you would have no knowledge whatsoever of their genetics and without that you will have no idea what your young bettas will be. I strongly suggest you buy your starting breeding stock from International Betta Congress (IBC) Breeders. They can often give you the genetic background on a betta for many generations. As an added bonus, if you join the IBC, you can request a free pair of bettas. All you do is pay the shipping.

The other thing you will need is a beginning fry food. Most breeders use Infusoria or micro worms. Startercultures of those are available from IBC breeders as well and many breeders will give you starters and directions free when you buy fish from them.

I have been breeding bettas for show and for sale for over 20 years and love every minute of it. If I can help you more feel free to email me.

you would be surprised but ebay.com under "bettas" has alot of listings for betta supplies.

but it might not be what your looking for, but go back to aquabid.com under 1-5 gallons, and there is a breeder who sells betta cups by the 25. 50..75.. etc...

They are alittle smaller, but they will do for seperating little males for a few months until you can find jars.

Heres another tip, try looking into restaurants, ask them if they can save jars for you, most of them will be glad to give them to you for free.
