I posted this in the other question, but I will post it here just in case you miss it.

It is extremely easy to be an actress or a model if you are a foreigner in Korea. A lot of companies focus on international marketing so even many of the largest conglomerates like Samsung and LG have commercials with all foreign models speaking only English despite marketing Korean products to Koreans.

Six of the girls who go to my church are models, but they weren't when they came here. They got recruited off the street. Speaking Korean is a big plus, and of course, you have to be good looking. For acting, you don't even have to be that attractive, I'm certainly not, and I have been in TV and commercials easily over 100 times.

I don't want to call it an "inferiority complex" but Korean producers certainly have some sort of complex when comparing their productions to US ones. If you have a chance to see the Korean version of the movie "D Wars" please do and pay particular attention to what the director says in the end. Also notice the terrible acting throughout the movie. If you can act half as bad as those guys, you can get a job in Korea. That film was shot mostly in the states and none of them could speak Korean. If you can speak at least broken Korean, however, it will be 1000 times easier. You can suck and still get a job ^^, I did.

If you must use an agent, you can, but I don't know anyone who has come here to find work that couldn't find it, even without an agent. See my post about acting in your other question for more details.

Hope that helps.

A foreigner...depending on what your background is. In many of the Asian countries, their movie and TV industry is filled with many Asian women. It's just their culture.

Of course, if you're sent from America *to* South Korea, that can be different. But I'm not saying you will never be sucessful there, just try it out and look for work wherever you go.

They just had a program on last nite about girls (15 total) they were recruted as "singers" for the orient and ended locked in a room without possession of their passports and they had signed contracts that bound them for 8 yrs and they were forced into prostitution to "cover" their food &housing & training bills.

That is not a place to try and make it on your own...Not everything is on the up and up.You must be so careful or you're going to be trapped in a hellish life.

Why would a foreigner want to. Koreans are decent people, individually, but as a society they ar not very accepting of others.

There are better more accepting places to work, where you can put your energy into your craft, and not into butting heads with a closed society.
