I was teaching a class the other day when one of the students pantsed me in the hall. My 'junk' was only showing for a fraction of a second. I lost my temper with the young girl who did it and slapped her lightly across the face. She said she won't press charges but I have to issue a formal apology which I refuse to do. Should I have to apologize?

Well this student is very very very very lucky I wasn't you. Cause a slap is the very least this student would have gotten. BUT Truth be told, I'd have to say the better way to have handled it would have been to suspend this student for at least one month and have the student make a public apology to you in front of the entire school. Should you apologize, NO. ONE of the BIGGEST problems with society today is the fact that THERE ARE people who are actually DEFENDING this PUNK KID making light of it. ANY student has NO BUSINESS doing this to a teacher. The KID NEEDED MORE than a SLAP.

You definately need to apologize, and it sounds like you need to find a new profession, apparently teaching isn't for you. You are lucky the parents of the girl hasn't pressed charges or worse come after you themselves. The student that pantsed you did they get suspended or something for the bad thing that they did.

is this the truth? if it is you need to do more than apologize, you need to find a new vocation.
obviously not suited for the situation.
getting pantsed isn't great i know, but if your an educator that acts like that...wow, if it was my daughter you "slapped" after a bad practical joke i'd come in and mess you up..
please tell me this is made up

ewwwe ! Seems your in a spot. Yes, I would apologize to the girl for your actions to put yourself in the clear whether you ever receive her apology for hers or not.

she was first in the wrong to pants a teacher and her behavior was unacceptable. I really don't think you can reprimand her because you reacted to her action. I think you'll just have to apologize to her and let it drop.

And from now on-- wear a tighter belt in the class room!
