I cannot say what kind of impact India is suffering from but I can tell you that Pakistan is ‎suffering big time. First it is economy. We are spending more than 64% of our budget in ‎defense expenses and this has always made us choose wrong priorities when it comes to ‎spending the rest of the money. We need huge amounts of money for education and ‎fighting poverty but building and maintaining infrastructure doesn't leave enough money ‎for our should-be primary goals.‎

Our biggest headache is our own army. We don't know how much money from defense ‎expenses is actually spent on weapons and training. Army does not have any check-and-‎balance or strong audit system within its circles and won't let any civilian government ‎agency do it for them. Most people believe that most of our defense budget is actually ‎spent on Army's luxurious life style. Nowadays, they are converting Islamabad's ‎expensive residential area into Army Headquarters.‎

Because of India-Pakistan conflicts Pakistanis had to blindly trust their Army. On the ‎other hand Army abused its own country. They say in Pakistan, "our army conquers its ‎own country every ten years". Army has become extremely powerful with in government ‎circle and never cares about national interest. Pakistan Army is now more like a ‎corporation which cares for nothing but its own interest and profits. Keeping strong Army ‎is our necessity because of India-Pakistan conflicts. Without these conflicts we could ‎keep a stronger check on a weaker Army. Heck, we wouldn’t need an Army.‎

Pakistan's Army is like dirty cops or like police officers turned into robbers.

This conflict has been going on for decades, revolving mostly around issues of religion (Islam vs. Hinduism) and culture, but also over land and power. There is a constant threat of the spread of arms, especially nuclear arms since both countries have them, and also there is, as always the constant threat to the life of ordinary people. In addition, countries like the USA, Britain, France, etc. have a real problem here, because they are allies with both countries. Therefore, it is a constant irritant to the region and a threat to world peace and order.
