Or any other "weird" religion, for that matter? Isn't Christianity just as weird a concept?

I'm an atheist and questioned many religions. I always wondered why so many people think less of those who worshiped the moon and stars. Isn't Egyptian culture one that still puzzles us today? We still don't quite understand how they did the things they did during those times. They were smart enough to build temples that correlate with astrological events and mummify their dead. So why do we consider their beliefs to be silly? Confuses me.

Because Christians are one of the few MIlitant religions out there that use force if ness. to keep other religions away. it was felt by christians that any religion that didnt follow their beliefs was paganistic, and when settlers came to america it wasnt to escape religous persicution, it was to persicute others about their religions. I mean jeeze havent you noticed how Christians are taking over politics, even though in the constitution it says there is to be a seperation of church and state.
All in all the Christian Reich wants to make sure that you think its unacceptable to follow a "weird" religion, thus are you brainwashed. People that do follow such religions dont care about what christian say, they've been preaching to everyone else for the last 2000 years and it aint gonna stop soon.

Belief in love rather than becoming disciplined to forces of nature. Some people would be deemed as arrogant instead of discerning if they went on with egyptian religion. Christianity being insincere and distrusting does not covet tollerance so it is useful to unwitty characters, which I must insist form most of christian and hindi religions.

When one culture conquers another it tends to push it's culture & religion onto that culture. Egypt was eventually conquerd by the Romans who eventually became Christians so over time the tradtional Egyptian religions died out. If the Earth was taken over by aliens, who knows what we will end up worshipping.

Who's to say what is and is not "wierd"?

Never mind religious practices, look at what people around the world not only eat but consider delicacies.

I think given the food habits of our species, it would be surprising if we didn't have some wierd ideas about the afterlife.

Two reasons. Because Christians are:
1, in the great majority,
and
2, often rabid.

Christianity is more acceptable because there are more Christians, and nobody wants to be different in our society, right? (Except a few of us)
