I think both terms are oxymorons. Liberals are liberal no matter what party they belong to. There is not a differing degree of liberalism. The same goes for conservatives. If you have conservative values, it does not matter what party you belong to.

Not too much. Ever since 1964, the left of centers have been becoming Democrat and the right of centers have been becoming Republican. A liberal Republican is on the left-wing of his party while a conservative Democrat is on the right-wing of his party.
In some cases, a liberal Republican from the northeast (Guiliani for example) is MORE LIBERAL then a conservative Democrat from the South (Zell Miller for example).

There is really very little difference. Both are pretty much centrists with either a liberal or conservative leaning.
