It depends on the amount of damage and the type of damage. If you have a good strong sewing machine, repairs can be made. There are patch kits, and people save pieces of old sails for patches. I have resewn edges and put on small patches. If it really effects the working of the sail greatly, you might want to get a new sail or use the old one for a pattern.

If you go to: www.cruisingcompass.com you'll see an archive section on the righthand side of the web page. This is the archive for all of the free newsletters that they email out to subscribers and can be looked at by anyone at anytime. Look for "July 26, 2007 - Issue 52" and scroll down to "Boat Rat's Tip of the Week". It's about sail repair on the fly. You can access all of the newsletters for more sail repair techniques and other cruising ideas.

depends on the damage...I've repaired batton pockets and minor rips on the clew where the sheet pulls the grommet, but otherwise, I agree with some of the others...take it to a sail loft and they can do the best job. If you are local to Spokane, Yager sails is here...or closer to Seattle, they have several sailmakers and sail lofts...

simply put, take it to your local sailmaker/loft! or depending the 'damage' you may be able to use some spinnaker repair tape if the 'damage' is not too big or in an area with a large load.. good luck!

Depends on how well you what it to look. Sewing needle, thread and a patch of similar material. If, it not bad, you can find something cool for the patch and place on each side and it look like it made to be that way.
