I have seen so much bs from the right and the left. I thogh the green part did some good, but couldn't beat the 2 major parties.

Do yo guys think Independant can grow? if not now maybe next election?

I think that if enough people register or vote Independn in the primaries, washington might get a clue.

BTW i am not talking about loonie Independant sell outs like "good ol' Joe"

It could only help, but we Americans are stubborn. We are exactly like that Simpsons episode, where both candidates were the aliens, both running on a platform to enslave mankind, and they said, "go ahead! throw your vote away on a third party!"

The reason we are having this discussion is the first two parties aren't parties of the people.

A third party isn't the solution,

the solution is electing politicans from 1, 2, or 3rd party who are for the people.

We as a people need to raise the standard.

Few suggestions,

no more electoral college, thats # 1.

Second, the congressional districts need to be distributed randomly, so that the districts aren't too conservative or too liberal, thats # 2.

Those two solutions will go a long, long way.

"All politics is local." The mistake Nader... and many others... make regarding third parties is that it will NEVER come from the top on down. It has to come from the ground up. That means winning local elections to lay the groundwork.

Too many third parties are only heard from on the national level every 4 years. If you're really serious about creating a third party or taking the Libertarian, Green or other party national, start working on getting your third party candidates elected to county, city or school boards.

Your premise is based on a myth that the people are some monolithic group of people that doesnt differ and disagree. That there is a party that can appeal to everyone.

There is no one party who can appeal to everyone because people are different. To win you cant just claim to speak for the people, you actually have to. And if you did you wouldnt be a third party.

I am so for a third party to take charge. I also think independant is the way of the future of America.

We have one in Australia ironically called the Democrats and as the man that formed said it was "To Keep the Bastards Honest".
At the beginning their were great but then they became like all politicians out for their own party not for the people that elected them.

Independent means without a party affiliation. Therefore there cannot be an "Independent Party." Ross Perot started a third party. It died due to lack of interest. Two parties are enough for me.

I think it's time to get rid of political parties altogether. Go to individual candidates and away from fitting inside a political mold. Makes it difficult to make it a "simple" voting process, but maybe we have relied on simplifying too long.

No, it is time for a few moderates to show up. Every politician
has the ability to think for themselves and not follow party lines. I can't believe they are all radicals one way or the other.

What about just one party, then you won't have to worry about a third party.:)

Kidding.
