I don't know; we're pretty materialistic.
We want it all, at the lowest prices...
And when we're finishing buying tons of junk Made in China, we've got credit card we may not be able to pay when our jobs are traded out to foreign soil...
we just love punishing ourselves!!
Seriously, though, what will it take to get back to basics, to fixing what we have, to not letting it break so badly in the first place?
Will Operation Green Planet or some such thing encourage us to stop putting so much in the dumps?
And to do that, to stop consuming and throwing out more and more junk?

accept as true with maximum of that however the lenders and government have a superb type of the blame too. the government made the lenders relax their standards so human beings could desire to qualify and then jacked up the fees of pastime throughout the time of the Federal Reserve equipment. They allowed mastercard companies to furnish 0% pastime loans which without postpone became 29% loans on the 1st hiccup. They threw funds at all of us and a superb type of them made severe income previous to the present day issues. The Federal Reserve isn't even controlled by the government yet by a shadowy board that's not answerable to the same old public. Our stupid income tax equipment does not help the two. pastime is deductible in case you pay it and taxable in case you get carry of it. not an excellent number of an incentive to save. i'm a supporter of the truthful Tax Act which might eliminate lots of the government interference, fake loop holes, etc.

Mostly everything that is sold in the U.S. is made in a foreign country, even the stuff that has an American brand name, no way to get away from that, I'm sure the PC that you typed your question on is foreign made or has foreign made parts

I think about this everyday....
We're doing so much for the Chinese....they have a trillion dollars of our money just holding it in their banks....at any time they could sell it off and cause the American dollar to loose value.

Why can't we de-globalize and start doing for ourselves? Why are we so willing to give jobs to low cost countries?
Meanwhile Wal-Mart is just as happy to sell their products at low prices everyday, knowing that Americans are cheap and greedy.

Sorry to jump on the coat tails of your question but I just wanted you to know that I understand your point.
