There are a few who enjoy their music because it sparks a chord in their life or they find the artistic quality of it soothing.
BUT
I think for most, it's just constant and continual bombardment and limited choice by unvaried exposure.
In the 40's jazz, big band and swing got us through the war.
In the 50's rock-n-roll was new.
In the 60's rebellion, drugs and protest changed rock.
In the 70's dancing pushed disco.
In the 80's techno, grunge, new wave and hair bands were a mini-60's.
In the 90's sadly rap came to be.
Now...We await the replacement of rap but it's unfortunately still here.

Whatever we have an ear for. Great sound, a beat that we can dance too, and lyrics that we can relate to. It's good for the soul : ]

Originality is a plus! I can't stand artists that repeat words of other artists. And I love playing the flute and piano. =]
