No I believe it was a ground rule double.

Yes a ground rule double was a home run in those days until 1930, But if the ball went foul after the foul pole the umpire declared that hit as foul.

How often did he hit the ball without it clearing the fence? Oh and just imagine if he hadn't pitched the first 9 years of his career and had as many plate appearances as Hank or Bonds. He could be up around 1200 home runs. Had he played after the Cy Young Award was implemented he could've been the only player to win a Cy Young and home run crown in the same year.

Yes, but the fences were a 100 feet further out and the ball was a lot softer so it didn't bounce as much.
