A zinc oxide based diaper rash cream like Desitin, Balmex, etc. And the creamy kind would be best since his little penis is already irritated and the creamy kind is easier to put on.

All I know is that when I have penis skin irritation like this, I use a creme called Man1 Man Oil. It is basically a multi-vitamin creme made just for the penis and works very well. It's both antibacterial and moisturizing. Try to find something similar. Hope this helps.

Desitin is amazing!! It's good that you are letting him air out, that helps too, big time! Poor little guy, that has to be so miserable for him. I learned the hard way that my 2 year old, of couse this was months ago when i first introduced it, cannot drink juice. It gives him bloody rashes on his bum and his penis. But you are doing great letting him air out. Try desitin. It's the best. I used bag balm, which you can get at wal mart. That stuff was amazing too. It didn't burn their little bum. Good luck and God bless.

Desitin really helps but if this is something that has lasted for more than a day check with your doctor immediately it could be fungal infection... I have the same problem with my 6 month old... and we have to put him on an antibiotic course.

Anything that contains zinc oxide will work in hours. Try Desitin. With that you can put a diaper on and not worry about it coming off.

It's good that you are letting the air get to it. I never had any luck with Vaseline, i always used sudocrem but I don't know if you can buy it where you are, I'm in England. If you can't buy it locally, it is worth getting it by mail order because it is very effective.

Get some Aquaphor and apply it thick. You can get it at CVS, Walgreens and I think Target. It works wonders!
