My partner had cancer and as a result was told he was 99.99% sterile (he only has one testicle now) and the other was radiated as otherwise would have got it there too. Just the sad hopeful part of me that thinks maybe some of it has recovered or something can you just go to the Doctors to get your sperm count tested or a special clinic? thanks

a fertility doc can do it no problem! Test results are back in a few days. Have your husbands sperm morphology tested as well. That test is to show how many of the sperm are actually "good sperm", nicely shaped and are strong enough to break thru the egg to fertilize. A "normal" man has 4 good sperm out of every 100, my hubby has only 1 good sperm out of every 100 so that is an issue for us. His sperm count is fine so if we wouldn't have had his morphology tested we still would be looking for a reason why we cant conceive. Now we are moving on to different ways to help our situation.
I have also seen tests on the internet and at the drug store that say test sperm count too, maybe give those a try. Good luck to you and your partner!

Where are you? In the states? I am in South Africa and my hubby had it done a month or two ago. The doc sent him to the clinic that does the drawing of blood and so on - Pathologist. He took the sample in which he made 30 minutes prior and they tested it. Dont wait longer than 45 minutes after taking the sample as the test will not be that accurate. Also - tell him to hold off for say 3 days prior as it might increase his count! All the best and i pray for a high or good enough count!

Most any lab can do it. Just call either your OB/Gyn or his family doctor and have them write orders for a semen analyasis. Pick up the orders and take them to the lab. They will be able to give him a sterile collection cup and instructions. If you live less than 30minutes from the lab then he can ejaculate in the cup at home and then take it to the lab, if not, he will have to give the sample at the lab. It doesn't cost very much--$100-200 depending on how detailed they get. And the results will be sent back to the dr who ordered the test. You can usually know the results the next day. Good luck!

Hi, I remember seeing recently on tv a guy that had a lower sperm count than your husbands, the specialist told him to change his diet, eat more vegetables, exercise alot more, give up smoking and drinking, wear loose boxers etc.. and within 5 months his wife was pregnant, they had been trying for 8 years with no luck what so ever, so it could be worth a try The guy loved 'pomagranite' (think thats how you spell it) fruit, its very good for fertility, you cut it in half and beat the skin with the back of a spoon and all the seeds fall out, eat them all and hopefully it might help Good luck I really hope it works out for you

Go to a doctor who specializes in reproduction and infertility. They can easily test sperm count and mobility. Even if the sperm count is low, they can perform artificial insemination on you. It only takes 1 little sperm to get pregnant.

your better off going to your doctor and explaining the situation that you would like to see if there is any hope your partner is fertile you know the chances arent good but you would still like to see, your doctor will be willing to oblige and will give you times and dates of when and where you can take a sample, in my area its the local hospital only prob is your sample must be kept warm eaither in a mans pocket or a womans bra and delivered within an hour.

A regular MD can have it done also, if they have a courier to get the sample to the lab quickly enough.
