It is extremely important to always look good, have fashionable clothes, the right shoes, the right bag. Eat at the right place.
I honestly don't get the big deal. These attitudes invoke Jealousy and make the world a harder place to live. WHat do you think?

I think people should take pride in how they look. I'm not saying they have to look perfect and always have every name brand peice of clothing there is but shower everyday, comb your hair, make sure both your shoes match ect. I think as long as you feel good in what you are wearing and how you look then that's good enough.

Other than hygiene and safety concerns (no loose clothing if work involves machinery), I think people should do their own thing. What works for one culture doesn't for another.

For example, the double-standard about make-up. Women are accused of not being "done" if we don't wear any. Wearing painful shoes is more "formal" and "professional" than comfy ones. And what is pantyhose about?

Also, looking good usually means WASPy good - because curly hair is "wild" or "ethnic". There are constrictive image requirements put forth by the media about weight and ludicrous fashions that change by the hour.

I do what pleases me, whether it is fashionable or not. I am apt to judge others based on behavior and not looks.

I think it's important to be well-groomed. Keep your hair trimmed, nails nice, skin clear. I also think it's important to wear the nicest quality clothes, shoes etc. you can afford because they're made better and they last, hang evenly, and use nice materials and aren't skimpy with them. Anyone who does this is going to look pretty good regardless of their finances or what nature's given them to work with. This type of thing isn't about causing envy but more about taking care of oneself and feeling good. As far as having the "right" things I think that's just silly and doesn't necessarily make the world a harder place but certainly makes it a much more boring one.

well , acc to me we should be always guided by our own natural instincts . we must not be so people conscious ,we must be the trend setters, sometimes even the best clothes and accessories dont look good as the person may not be having the right attittude to carry himself/herself.what is most expensive to maintain is the right n gutsy attitude. if people r jealous let them be as it is their natural tendency, can u expect a snake to kiss u if u pat it ? it will always bite u as a part of its inbuilt nature . so its fine , but one should always not let our composure be affected by just a little jealousy of others.

i think appearance is important because it is how you portray yourself to the world. by taking care of yourself, you are telling the world you care about your own well-being, image, and health. but i that doesn't mean buying the coolest clothes everyone else has or following fads just for the sake of being trendy. it's about expressing what you are through how you look. to each her own.

I think people should care about their looks just not to where they would limit themselves to not being around certain people or eating in certain place or shopping in certain store because of what others might think.
