i know what both a turbo and superchargers are. i prefer supercharge, i just want to make my car go faster. i think that supercharging it would be my best bet.

The differenc between a supercharger and a turbocharger is the way it is powered. Both increase horsepower by compressing the intake air. A turbo does it by harnessing exhaust gasses or wasted energy. A supercharger runs off a pully like an air conditioning compressor. Therfore, a supercharger trades off the extra drag of that additonal pully and belt against the increased horsepower.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems. A turbo is exposed to very hot exhaust termperatures and super high impeller bearing speeds. Some to the point of requiring an intercooler (a little radiator) to help keep them from being damaged by the heat. A supercharger adds drag like turning on your airconditioner but it is less delicate and not exposed to exhaust heat.

Do you even know what a supercharger does? It is not going to increase your gas mileage, that's for sure. As far as WEARing down the engine, the supercharger won't cause abnormal wear. The way you drive it can, though.

i would go with a turbo anyday, but i dont think a stock equinox engine could handle it. those are like Ls 1's right? you might be okay if you put new heads and a new intake manafold on it. i dont get why you would want to put one on a equinox though. theres probably not enought room under the hood even. both a turbo and super charger require alot more room than you think, espically a turbo.
