Morals are morals and are neither liberal nor conservative but the greatest liberal VALUE is the ability to listen to (or even reach out for) contrary views and opinions and oftentimes change one's position based upon newly acquired intelligence.

I am not a liberal, in fact I agree with more conservative views than liberal. My values came from growing up poor because of an alcoholic father. It caused me to have a great work ethic, know right from wrong and the importance of good credit. Since, at times we were forced to accept help to get by, it also taught me that not all people that need help are lazy or druggies. Us kids did not fall into that category, neither did my mother. My morals didn't catch up with me until a lot later on in life. They came from my wife and my pastor. Having morals also keeps me from voting for any conservative because of their obvious contempt of people that can't help themselves. I have been on the other end. I have not had to accept help since I left home and became an adult , so all people that has accepted welfare do not think it is a proper way of life like some believe. I don't mind some of my tax dollars helping others. So you can keep your precious money and be buried with it. maybe God will forgive you, maybe not.

Your first respondant, Longhaired Freaky Person, is certainly no dummy, but his answer is the polar opposite of the truth. He still clings to the values Liberals once strove for. It used to be a compliment to be considered "liberal", because the conservatives were viewed as stodgy, narrow minded people afraid of change.
Now the situation has reversed itself. Nowadays, Conservatives are the optimists, the most socially progressive, the ones who have faith in the human individual, and are trying to create real progress.
Take the Iraq war, for example. I have learned that if you really get a Liberal steamed up, he will finally lose all semblance of self-control and blurt out something like, "Oh c'mon, you don't really expect those volatile ragheads can handle democracy, do you?" (I've already had this happen on several occasions, and each time it's hilarious; the "liberal" exposing his true colors).
Conservatives are optimists. We say, of course Arabs and Persians can handle democracy. Of course they can learn to live with one another peacefully. Liberals are complete pessimists.
Freedom? The only thing the Democratic party has proposed recently are programs that are nothing but Socialism. They don't have confidence in the individual to even lead his own life. Hillary Clinton has made many comments where she said as much. For example, she once remarked that people can't be trusted to make their own decisions about something as important as health care. Can you imagine if the Founding Fathers heard her talk? They'd be ashamed she is an American.

Some of the ideas of liberals came from the teachings of Jesus. Did you ever here of the sermon on the Mount, Giving to the needy, Treasures in Heaven, Do not Worry, Judging others and parables like A tree and its Fruit, The Wise and Foolish Builders, The Man with Leprosy. Actually the bible is filled with liberal causes, funny that not all Christians believe the Bible.

Liberals have no morals or values so why do you even mention that .
The prospect of going to heaven or hell does not rule the decisions they make and thus they are free thinking people .
Most are law abiding and somewhat more so then conservatives it would seem .
Between the preachers molesting children and having homosexual relations with prostitutes and law makers texting page boys with lurid sexual innuendo who is more immoral . Those who claim to believe in God or those who claim no such thing .

Freedom, reason, and progress. And they come from the Renaissance and the Enlightenment.
How about conservative values and morals?
