We need to develop a technology that will get into mines quickly. We could have one or two of these systems available for use at all times, and position them so they could be anywhere in the continental US in about 12 hours driving time.

It is safer being a miner then driving in the US.
10 times more miners are killed driving to and from work then killed underground.

That it's still dangerous to be miner. People like to think that because we've had advances, it's safer. That's true. It is safer, to a point, but I think it's still one of the most dangerous professions out there.
