You have worked hard for your homework; then all of a sudden a friend or classmate asks you for it just to "copy" it. It's frustrating. You have worked hard on it and someone just comes and copies it. How do you tell them "no"?

Why is this in the Books and Authors section?

But just tell them, and very firmly, no. If they insist, you have to stand your ground. If they try and give you the whole 'well if you're not going to let me copy, you're not my friend,' bit, then you stand your ground, still, and tell them 'well i wouldn't be a friend for letting you copy, so....' Lots of people have come to me asking to copy my stuff, and I look at them with the 'are you crazy' expression on my face and say 'um, no,' and then offer to help them. When I help, if they want it (and most people don't, they just go to someone else to see if they can copy off of them) I explain stuff to them, and if they can't stand you hovering over them explaining something, then oh well. Saying no is not as hard as you think. They're going to get angry, but it doesn't matter. It really doesn't.

You should NOT try to pretend like there's someone across the hall or something you want to talk to, tell them flat out no, and if they ask 'why the hell not?' then you tell them why the hell not. If you're really having problems with telling them no, then tell them 'no' playfully, but still firmly. I mean, yeah, it's different if it's just a couple questions, but even then, you help them, not let them copy. Stuff like that can get caught. My teachers, over the years have found people copying off each other, and they'd all either gotten warnings from the coolest, most respected teachers, or gotten zero's from the more disliked ones, and humiliated by them. So there you go.

Step 1: open your mouth
Step 2: place the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth
Step 3: push air through your esophogus, and, when sound begins to come out, quickly pull your tongue away and reform your mouth into a small round shape
Step 4: cease pushing air through your respitory system

I'm serious. Just tell them no. Do it in a playful, hell, no! kind of a way (DON'T say it an apologetic tone), and they might be annoyed, but they actually will have more respect for you. You'll feel much better if you don't let them copy your work. Plus, it is a memory you will look back on with satisfaction in the future.

Just tell them to do their own work. I let my friends copy a few of my answers when they have put effort into it but just couldn't understand a few things, but I know the feeling when somebody wants to copy your answers when you worked so hard on it.

Just tell them exactly what you said here: "No. I worked hard on it and I'm not just going to let someone copy it."

Here is one approach I've used in the past.

Say, "No. But thank you for the compliment."

When your friend inquires about what compliment he made, tell him its because he thinks that your hard work is good enough for him to copy. This gives you enough time to think of something else, or notice "a friend" across the hall, or to "remember" to call someone, or to excuse yourself.

You have answered him a "No" and given him a compliment, and got out of sticky situation.

Choice one : Tell them you have not finished your work yet and pass it up right when the teacher asks for it.

Choice two : If your classmate saw that you have finished it, try explaining that you had put in a lot of effort in to it. I am sure your classmates are more understanding than you give them credit. =)

Just tell the truth - that you worked hard on this and that no, this person cannot copy it. If this person is really your friend, he/she won't mind that you won't allow him/her to copy it. At the very least, he/she might be a little ticked off but will get over it. If he/she does get mad (and stay mad..), he/she is just using you... you deserve better friends. =)

Sorry if that's confusing... with all the he/she's. =P

Simple-- "No, sorry." You do not have to explain yourself, it is your work. Grow a spine and don't hand it over to them. If you really feel the need to explain yourself, tell them you do not support cheating and will not aid them in growing up to be idiots.

have a separate copy with all the answers wrong, words misspelled, etc. Give them that one.

Say "no."

Or stop doing your homework too.

Or purposely make 2 copies.. one with the right answers and one with all the wrong answers. Give them the wrong one and you hand in the right one.
