Okay. I went to www.sacredtexts.com and read "The Book of Werewolves" by Sabine Baring-Gould, and It intrigued me.
She took real time to write that so my question is, If she had experienced seeing werewolves 200 years ago did they really exist back then? Or was she just a bit touched in the head?

They don't exist now and they didn't exist then and they won't exist in the future.

They don't need to "pardon" someone who was jailed and tortured and murdered 226 years ago by the state and church for a crime that does not exist. They need to make public what happened as an example of abuse of power and preversion of justice with the collaboration of the authorities. And they are actually. The whole pardon thing adds publicity but misleads by focusing on Anna Goeldi personally and not the system that wronged her. But maybe many people in Glarus don't like to think of that. Re the Affrican witch hunts today, I'm amazed how people just don't get it. These atrocities are taking place in communities in crisis that are patriarchial with tense power politics and many people on the edge for surviving every day. Going after someone who is a convienent focus for hatred and who can't fight back and who may have something worth taking is very tempting for the local leaders and wannabe leaders. Sound familiar? It really doesn't take a doctorate to figure it out. Edit: " I would keep quiet if I were you, you could be next! " Please don't report Johno! I think that comment revealing. (and the ratings it gets) Edit2: wasn't thinking you reporting, Thing. I was asking in general.

As what we all know, werewolves only exist in horror movies and are written in our storybooks. Werewolf is a living person who transforms into a wolf or wolf-like creature. Once transformed, they have the entire wolf's characteristic. So they don't just look like wolf but they act like wolf. They may do this transformation by using magic purposely, by a curse or is under influence of full moon.

There are reports and testimonials on the separate occurrence of werewolves. But science requires solid proof to confirm that werewolves really exist. So for now, these creepy beasts are just products of imagination and just horror-movie characters.

A Fact on the Ripley's believe it or not show. In 500 AD during the first Olympics, a werewolf won the boxing tournament. Interesting Fact, huh? IMO, werewolves existed 200 years ago and they still live among us today.

If you want to read a incredible werewolf novel, try reading Moonwarriors by Rusty Nugent.

So here is the deal on the hole werewolf thing as far as I can figure.

Lycanthropy was the term for the disease thought to create shape shifters.

In truth werewolves were quite probably viking and Celtic raiders dressed in full pelts to disguise their appearance while travelling through the bush and to inspire fear within their prey.

The original viking bersekir warriors were so named not only for their berserk battle rage but for the cave bear pelts they wore.

The whole wolf pelt thing I vaguely recall tracing back to Scottish and Irish warrior castes sent out for specific purposes as such.

Because they a virtually immortal due to whole cellular regeneration (just imagine billions of cells having sex).
Thus the ones that were here two hundred years ago,
would be still here now. They keep their heads down,
if they don't, they are scared we might kill them before
their regeneration on the full moon!
I have read it too, probably true or false (or a paradoxical
boolean).

there was an unknown Wolf-like creature which terrorized a remote section of the French Countryside for years in the 1700's And there have been many sightings of another Wolf-like creature which has killed livestock, pets, and terrorized a few ppl in Wisconsin over the last few years. As a Amatuer Cryptozoologist myself I would LOVE to be able to investigate this Phenomenon in Wisconsin.

yes. actually, (if you didnt know) most of the werewolves here today are over 200 years of age. They live a very long time, expecially if they're a pure breed. The purer their wolf blood (meaning the less human thats there) the longer they live. Hope i helped. if u wanna no anything else bout lycans. just let me know.

A rather technical and specific answer is that in Olde English there is the word werwulf. Wer translated is man and wulf is obvious. Old English was spoken 500 years ago.

Yes, but they were a delicacy of trolls. As the population of werewolves declined, trolls were forced to forage for their food during the day, which the sunlight turned them to rock. By this point, the werewolf population was decimated and scattered to the north of Siberia. Eventually the trolls got depressed and started doing bong hits, which led to tiredness and falling asleep in the sun. As of now, only Dick Cheney and a few cabinet members know of their whereabouts. Remember you heard it here first. I was told GWB has petted a troll.

Yes, they still did 200 years ago. But they were declining. Go back around 1200 years ago for the real deal.
