I know it is rude to make fun of someone if it is a simple typo. But if the don't make any sense so you can't read the question..That's something you should bring up and say to spell check.

I just really bothers me when it's obvious that a person is too lazy to use the spell checker or use proper grammar. This isn't Yahoo! Texting. It's Yahoo! Answers. The only time I try to correct people is when I honestly can't understand the question.

EDIT: Also, I don't correct a little typo here and there. I understand that people can't be expected to type EVERYTHING right. It's just when, as I said above, the questioner makes no sense that I have to express my opinion.

Probably because it becomes a nuisance and an annoyance to constantly being exposed to that particular group of uneducated, illiterate people who never took the time, or simply didn't care enough, to pay attention in school to learn correct spelling and the proper use of grammar.
And now as a result, we all must suffer along as we try to decipher what they're trying to say when they propose simple questions like: "How to I loose wate?"

The basis for any "rude" comments, as you put it, is mostly in the fact that the language abuser failed to recognize that there is a helpful tool available to him/her that they refuse to take advantage of...the "Check Spelling" feature that accompanies each post...so, it then is pointed out to them in one way or another, sometimes misconstrued as "rudeness" but only meant to be constructive and helpful.

I will not comment if only one or two words are misspelled but Unless English is your second language I should be able to decipher it.
And I try to check peoples profiles to see if they are from USA because I see lots of people getting snotty with my foreign friends because of the way they use the English language

There are people who make themselves feel better by finding mistakes and flaws in others.

There are people who have a mission to correct spelling and grammar because it really drives them nuts.

Then there are the confused who didn't understand and are looking for clarification. Or the amused because the way the question came out made it an absolute hoot!

And...as you probably have noticed..some people just aren't very nice.

I don't have a problem with an occasional typo. I have a problem with people who post stuff that's barely readable and it seems they make no effort to spell thing correctly.

but I am going to say because the people who complain don't have a life, don't have anything better to do, they like to make it unpleasant for other people.

Because they have to pretend they are superior in some ways over people. Never getting laid must be rough, so cut them some slack.
