why so many people think she is one of the best players in the world?

most of the people think she is the best only because is is a tall blond girl who know how to sell her image.
when she won that wimbledon final i saw a good and talented tennis player with a bright future ahead.
but now i don't think the same way any more.she still have good shots but just doesn't seam to me that she got what it takes to be the best,has no passion any more,during a match all you see on her face is struggle.

The obvious reason is because she is. She is currently ranked number 2 in the world, has formerly been ranked number 1 in the world, has won two grandslam titles and she's not even 20 years old yet.

I don't think Maria Sharapova is the BEST player in the world, but she's definetely one of the best and always a consistent top 5 player who is a threat to win any tournament she enters. By the way, she just won a tournament last week too! She's a bit overexposed because of her looks and endorsements and some people don't appreciate her because of that, but you can't deny the facts or the stats either.

Well,because she is the WTA World.No 2 and is a double Grand Slam champion , thats why she is considered to be one of the 'biggies'.But , from your question it doesnt look like you are a very great Sharapova fan , and I agree with you (if that is so) , because she is a very one dimensional player and does have no strong game aspects except her serve and forehand .

She aint the best player in tennis. She does not even have a
second serve let alone he backhand.
William sisters will whack her good....and she is not going to
win this year US Open. Even Ivonovic or Jankovic can beat her.

People think it, because she plays decent tennis and have good
looks. Since women tennis is more about fashion, she fits the
