In terms of believing that there are other life forms out there... and earth is just considered a "grain of sand" in the universe. What if there are other supreme beings out there who actually study us or observe us? I know its crazy, but I got to thinking about it last night and the universe is endless! Think about it!

First this get it right, what is a lower form of life?
what you know and can do determines the different forms of life, a human being can think design build and do many other things that a lower form of life could never do, can a Fish walk, no, but a person can walk, and also swim, a dog can be taught to do tricks, and can remember them, but can the dog hold an election?

Comparing us to life that may be millions of years beyond where we are today, does not make us a lower form of life, it only tells us that we have a whole lot to learn to catch up to where they are today, it has nothing to do with higher and lower forms of life.
It has to do with the difference in time, they have been around longer, so they will know more, but one day, that is if we don't kill each other off first, will one day be where they are now.
I hope this answers your question, and gives you some incite.

I don't think anybody is observing or studying us. There are no other intelligent life forms close to us, obviously we have yet to find any sign of intelligent life everywhere we've looked. Even if say there was an alien civilization 1 million light years away from us, and say they had an extremely powerful telescope, then they could look at us, but they'd see the Earth as it was 1 million years ago.

So simply put, no we're not being observed by anybody, at this point we have technology to know that. You don't have to worry about that, right now its all science fiction.

Well, humans aren't even the lowest form of life on this planet, so I doubt we're too low in the universe.

Wouldn't it be a kick if all those who say we've been visited by superior intelligences from other planets or even different dimensions were wrong and the human race is the most developed intelligence in the universe? Just think, some day in the distant future some frightened being on some other planet will encounter a "little green man" climbing out of a flying saucer, and that little green man will be one of us. Maybe he'll even be from Roswell, New Mexico.

no. people are one of the highest forms of life. (on earth) the only organism that comes close to matching our productivity/adaptability as a species are viruses. think about it. they infest other organisms and spread, multiply and spread even more. they are HIGHLY adaptable, because they not only live in harsh environments but they also mutate to avoid getting killed off by out most advanced medicines. i do think there is life out in the universe besides us, but we are only looking for "our" kind of life. the type that is obvious to us. there may very well be thinking living beings that are made of elements we thought woul be impossible for life to develop.

we may never know.

We wouldn't be the lowest form of life, considering all of those single-cell organisms out there, which I'd like to HOPE I'm smarter then.
However, it's quite possible that to another species, we'd seem like... probably to them we'd seem like cats or dogs are to us. Pets.
Actually, I read a book-Urn Burial-which deals with that stuff you're thinking about. It's also about stopping animal testing and bringing on world peace, but in it the character finds himself in the hands of two powerful alien civilizations, neither of which thinks of him as intelligent. In fact, one of the civilizations experiments on humans like we do to animals in labs. Interesting read.

No I don't think so. There are clearly lowest forms of life on earth. Human kind is one of the most develloped forms of life.

We are definitely not alone in the galaxies. However religion tries to rule out such thinking. It could put them out of business.

To an alien species who has mastered the art of interstellar travel, we would most likely be considered fairly low on the food chain.
