I must say this: don't let the final score decieve you. (37-16.) That's the score that the Jets lost to the Patriots by. The score would suggest that the Jets are lightyears behind the Patriots. I look at how the game was played though. Take away two of the Patriots touchdowns that they got at the very end of the game, and you're looking at 23-16. Now factor in the field goal drives that the Jets had instead of turning them into touchdown drives. The reason that this happened was that the Jets had no running game, no Curtis Martin quality back to take the load, so the pressure was entirely on Chad Pennington's passing game which is the most effective when combined with the Play Action Pass. There were 3 field goals by the Jets... that would make the score 28-23 Jets. (The Jets 3 fieldgoals turned into touchdowns plus the one they got from Jerricho Cotchery in the actual game.) What if the Jets had a running game? We'll find out this year, as they aquired Thomas Jones from the Bears, who may be that running back they were missing. Plus, they greatly improved their defense with Darrell Revis, and they've proven they can beat the Patriots under Mangini (17-14 in their second meeting, and their first meeting they were down 24-0 but ran out of time to rally after Mangini whipped them into shape out of Herm Edward's way of playing the game, but still made it close at 24-17.) This year it will be very interesting. The Jets are way better than they were last year, but so are the Patriots over last year. I think they'll split the series again, and it will come down to who has the most wins. But this year, the Jets will defanitely have a great chance, it won't be set in stone that the East will go to the Patriots from the Get-go. The Jets should be a 11-13 win team this year, so it just depends on how many wins the Patriots get. (but they'll both be in the playoffs again.) My prediction: NY Jets 12-4, New England 11-5.

Look for the Jets to have a much better offense with the addition of Jones.... a sound running game improves the passing game and Chad has been throwing the ball 30+ yards in practice easily..... Jets should average 21-24 points per game this season

Defensively, the switch to a 3 - 4 defense was showing itself at the end of the year... Harris and Revis can only improve them......

At season's end look for them to be a wild card.....the pesky Patriots will still win the AFC East.... with a 10-6 record.....

the jets are going to be able to make a run at first place in the afc east, however I believe when the end of the season comes, they will be close but no cigar. I'm goin to say that they'll be 11-5 which will earn them a wild card spot. I'd like to see the jets win their division, because I am a giants fan and unlike some other fans there is no real rivalry between the giants and the jets so i just root for my hometown. I just think it will be a hard thing to pull off. regardless, they will be in the playoffs come december.

They are going to have to work their @sses off. They play 3 tough teams in the first 3 weeks! (Pats, Ravens, Miami) Plus then Philly, Cincy, Pittsburgh, and Dallas! These new guys are going to have to lead the Jets or else they'll suck like every other year (except last year).

10-6 -- they will be a wild card, but I don't think they will make it to the super bowl.
