the day before yesterday in the pool i think i twisted my ankle, but when i got out it just felt weak but didnt hurt. yesterday i woke up and it hurt to walk and it was swollen but no bruising so my mom said to put my ankle support on and carried on limping, today i have woken up and it had swollen again and i can barely walk without my ankle support, and is painful to walk even with my ankle support on, so i have iced it and the swelling has gone down, but it feels like its getting worse, should i go to the doctors or ER, or just leave it to heal on its own????
by the way i'm 13,

Go to the Doctor or the ER and have it looked at. You want to know what you are trying to heal. I have heard many people letting it go and end up having surgery later because it didn't heal properly. My son had that happen with his wrist, he now has a pin in it. Hopefully you just need to keep icing it and stay off of your ankle (hard thing to do). Good Luck

At 13 your growth plates are still open. A person your age is as likely to have broken the ankle as they are to have just sprained it.

You need an exam and likely an x-ray. However, this is no emergency - go to your doctor or urgent care.

Good luck

Not necessarily, it doesn't look broken, but stop walking, it's not a good decision. Give it a rest and you'll see it improving fast. 2-3 days. If you walk and your ankle becomes worse it's not a big surprise. it needs rest

check in to the ER or and Urgent care clinic.. sounds like you might of did more than twist your ankle.. injuries in the water are hard to place until your walking on it.. has to do with the buoyancy. could be strained or torn ligament or maybe even a 'greenstick' break

definitely go to the ER in case you broke it. By the way, my name and age is the exact same as you!

go to the doctors. it sounds like you strained/sprained your ankle and will probably need crutches.

If it is not better today then I would get an x-ray...just to make sure it is not fractured or broken.

Why at thirteen isn't your mom or dad making that decision?
