Homosexuality is genetic, just like heterosexuality is and yes bi-sexuality is genetic too.
That are the super rare cases where someone is able to override their genes but that is exception to rule..not the rule.
There is some mental factors too, like trauma or enviornment but that is like someone healing faster because they concentrate..it can happen but again not the rule
Everyone else goes by genes and usually bisexuality means either some gene got changed or body misreads gene and makes different protein..it is all biology that determines which sex pheromones you respond to.

Being gay is no more a choice than being straight. It is the way you are born. It is so baffling to me that so many still believe homosexuality is a choice. It is pure ignorance on their part if you ask me.
As far as it being a choice to pursue the lifestyle??? What other option is there... Live a life that is a lie and makes you unhappy? For what, to make everyone else happy!!! I'm sorry, but I just think people need to mind their own business and the world would be a much better place.

Scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is biological.
An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation.
Another scientific study said that researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, but the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families. Anthony F. Bogaert, Ph.D., professor at Brock University, said "The research suggests that the development of sexual orientation is influenced before birth."
The older-brother effect was constant regardless of whether the men were raised with natural, adopted or stepbrothers. It also didn't matter if they weren't raised with their biological mothers. If gay younger brothers and older brothers don't have the same home environments, what do they have in common? "They shared the same uterus, the same womb, the same mother," Bogaert said.

Used to work with and know many gay men and a few who were bi, later knew many lesbians, good Friends with four. Had patients in a psychiatric facility who were gay and many who were bi. Have always been interested in the question, been fortunate that I was able to ask them and get honest answers. Have not read many studies however.
Seems to me that many of my gay and lesbian Friends were hard-wired to that orientation, others made a choice. Concerning bi-sexual orientation, most that I have known are just very open-minded love sexual stimulation and have much sexual energy and choose to be bi, to stay busy, push limits or think of themselves as very cool.
I have no doubt that I have known at least several gays and lesbians who were/are biologically programmed to be.

Its one of those things that just happens you have no control or say in what you sexuality is so I guess I am saying it is biological it is the way nature made you no more no less. it is never a choice none of us woke up this morning and decided whether to be gay or straight or bi

This might be unpopular to some, but who cares whether it are choice or biology? It's not any moral issue as some suppose, but one of individual lifestyle. Some women of presumable heterosexual lifestyles have strayed at times, so have males, and those of other regarded gender have had their experiences. With no intent of annoying anyone, I hope the day arrives soon that no person are concerned with origin of such anymore, but merely acknowledge what they like, dislike, desire for themselves. Unfortunately too many haven't the courage to even admit their private fantasies to themselves.

Is this like the kindergarten class that found a kitten in the playground at recess? After playing with it for a while, one of the children asked, "Is it a boy kitten or a girl kitten?" While the teacher was struggling to come up with an appropriate answer for her young charges, one of the students volunteered, "I know how to tell!" Gritting her teeth, the teacher asked, "How, Milicent?" "We'll take a vote!"
Which is to say, like the poem goes, "We dance around in a ring and suppose, while the secret sits in the middle -- and knows." You may arrive at a consensus, but that doesn't make it so.

well honestly i think both .... i have been lesbian for about 12 years now but b4 that..i was straight..would not let a female come near me.. i did not want to be a part of it .. i had great men lovers..the best .. but one day i tried females, and liked that too .. i can see myself with a man again .. actually the games these females play are turning me off... so i think i will go back to men for good ..i just liked the experience i think it is choice for some.... and for some it is biological

no opinion from me, the genetic marker for homosexuality has been identified so it is indeed biological and not a choice. Who on earth would choose to live as a pariah in his own country? Give me a break.

this question irritates the hell out of me. i mean, thank you for clearing up the fact that you are bisexual and not asking to be ignorant, but it's so simple i dont understand why people don't get it.
why would anyone CHOOSE to be gay when much of society looks at gay people as wrong and sinful? as proud of who i am as i am, it would have been so much easier to be straight and not have to deal with the stigma attached to being a lesbian/gay/trans, etc.
people rarely turn the question around and ask : "were you born straight or did you choose to be straight?" AND "do you think if you are straight you could live a life pretending to be gay if that were the more acceptable thing?" no, of course not, and that's why gay people CHOOSE to come out and live their life..but don't choose who they are born as.
