You are joking, aren't you?

If you've received an email telling you that you've won, more than likely it's a scam. They're after you to either give your bank account details or to send them and adminstration fee.

If you've not actually purchased a ticket in the said lottery, how on earth do you think you've got any chance of being awarded a prize?

Don't even reply to the email. If you do, the scammers will know that they've found an active email address and will, more than likely, sell it on. You'll then be flooded by spam from loads of companies selling things that you may not be interested in.

If you have won a lottery you will have a number on the ticket you bought (either real or virtual if on line)which you need to call.

If you did not buy a ticket and have had an e-mail telling you you have won, it is just spam, trying to scam you. Bin it.

Unless you have an actual ticket in your possesion, then you can forget it. If you have received an E Mail telling you that you have won, it's a total scam. They are just looking for your personal details and lots of cash. If you do have a ticket then take it to any lottery retailer.

If it's a real lottery, you would have paid to enter it BEFORE hearing that you won.

If you're a doofus who got conned, the first you heard of being in the lottery was when you were told you were a winner.

register your winning ticket!
If its a substantial amount then you can visit Camelot HQ where you will recieve your money if you have indeed won.
First thing to do is phone the number on the backof your ticket to confirm you have though
