Can anyone tell me why Matt Tupman (AAA Omaha) hasn't taken over Jason LaRue's spot as back up catcher for the Royals?????

He was my catcher in college so I'd like to see him play in the majors....

Bryan's right...plus the Royals aren't exactly going to make the playoffs this year...there's no point.

I would like to see him play in KC, but I don't think it will happen until next year. It's true that LaRue can't hit for his life, but he does handle the pitchers pretty well. I've seen Tupman play a couple games in Omaha this year and he seems pretty streaky with the bat there. I think the front office wants to get him some more experience before they bring him up and not do what they did with Alex Gordon - who had a disasterous first half. Also, LaRue's salary may be just a bit too much to dump him off or send him doen to the minors. I do truly expect Tupman to make a big push for a roster spot next spring training. He seems to be hitting better the last couple weeks and we may see him called up in September so they can get a small look at him in the big leagues before next season.

thats the point, i don't think he wants to play back up. so he probably wants to stay in Omaha until Larue or Buck is gone or injured.

Im not a royals fan but....why would you want a prospect sitting on the bench as back up instead of playing in the minors building up his skill?
