The only real way to understand the concept of the power band is to experience it. If you have a friend with a small 2-stroke (125 or less), ask if you can ride it in a straight line. Get into second then wind it out. About halfway through the gear, you'll definitely feel the front end get a lot lighter as the engines hp rapidly increases. After a certain point, youll feel the bike lose power, but from when you first notice the jump in power to when it starts going down is the power band.

A power band is at its simplest the range in which the most power is produced by the motor. I have a 99 600 F4 and the power band would be considered anywhere between 7000 and 11000 rpms give or take. It is the basic way of looking what the motor needs to be doing to make power.

It is not a physical thing you can touch. It identifies where in the RPM range an engine produces horsepower and torque. Generally people refer to 2 stroke MX bikes as having a narrow power band since they tend to produce useable power over a more narrow RPM range compared to 4 stroke MX bikes. This is one reason 4 strokes are so popular.

Yep, cracky is living proof of what happens after a parent drops their baby on its head. Grow up why don't you! And incidently, I'm not gay, rather when I have a stupid idea, I don't broadcast it.

IT'S OFTEN CALLED THE BEAVER band . all you have to do is turn the front wheel to the right while you're idling at a stop light and when it turns green, hit the gas.
