It's as if his head is weighing him down. I don't know if there's anything i can do to help him or if this is just what happens before a goldfish dies.

I called a place that sells fish and told them the situation. The lady says that since my fish is floating on the bottom that it's most likely he's dying. She mentioned about feeding him a pea and even yogart but she said most likely he'll be dead within the day. Thanks for input though. :(

No but it does happen when Nitrates are high and food is poor quality and or old. Change water, change food. Fast fish for 4 days. On 5th day feed skinned thawed peas. Frozen brine shrimp are also good for the gut. Feed less flake and or pellet food. Flake food is poor quality and goes bad fast, like a week or so. Pellet food goes bad in about a month. Frozen food needs to be tossed after 3 months. Opt for a food that does not have corn listed as one of the ingredients.

It is possible he has a swim bladder problem or is constipated, try fasting him for a few days and then feeding him a defrosted pea. What is he in?Goldfish get quite large and you should have at least 10 gallons per goldfish,in a bowl they won't live as long as in a proper tank(goldfish can live for 20 years with good care). It doesn't sound to good for him but don't give up hope while he is still alive it may be something not to serious and he will recover.

If it's a goldfish by the way, 6 years isn't that old - they have been known to live to 40 lol...

If you have anything to treat the water with (like fish safe or something) that's designed for sick fish, use it. (Quarantine your fish as soon as possible - preferably in shallower water). If not, try to get some at a pet shop or aquarium. If you can't, then sorry - it doesn't look good. Swim bladder infections are common, I think this is what he has. (One lady I read about made her pet fish a little jacket that she could inflate by a remote control so that he could still swim around! but that takes quite a lot of technical equipment lol) I lost a lot of fish to this. He will probably be dead soon. I'm very sorry.

Sounds like a swim bladder issue, and it doesn't sound good at this point. Try doing a water change and see if that helps. The new theory is that high nitrates can also be a cause of swimbladder issues. If he's eating, try feeding him a pea that's split open. You could also add a bit of epsom salt to his tank, or if he is eating, add a grain of the epsom satl to the pea, sometimes that will help as well.

Yup... sorry to say it, but it's dying. It probably has a problem with its swim bladders (hence the bobbing upside down). If it's fins are close to the body (not fully open) then it's a sure sign your fish is ill. Before it infects any of the other fish in the tank, I would quarantine it in a glass. It will probably die within the next 24 hours.

I'm not sure if those little gold fish live for 6 years. He may have died 4 years ago. And he might not be breathing, that may be gas accumulating from inside the dead fish making it look like he's breathing.

Next time get a chia pet. They're much easier to care for.

So sorry , but yes your little guy is dying! Same thing happened to my child's fish. Had a hard time trying to explain to a child that every living thing has a life cycle and sooner or later everything does die regardless of doing everything possible to prolong that life, it is just it's time to go. Sorry once again.

Sadly, your fish is not looking so well and may be dead in a day.
